Large-Scale Pig Farm Wastewater Treatment Project

1. Project Background

A large-scale pig farm in Guangdong Province generates approximately 300 m3 of wastewater daily, with COD reaching 8,000-15,000 mg/L and ammonia-nitrogen reaching 500-800 mg/L, significantly exceeding national discharge standards. The farm owner urgently needed a highly efficient, stable, and reliable wastewater treatment solution to meet local environmental regulatory requirements.

2. Solution Design

Zhongqiao Enlightenment's technical team designed a customized treatment process: Pre-treatment using a solid-liquid separator to remove solid manure. Anaerobic treatment using a UASB reactor achieving COD removal exceeding 70%, with biogas recovered for on-site energy use. Aerobic treatment in an A/O biochemical tank for further organic matter degradation and nitrogen removal. Advanced treatment using an MBR membrane bioreactor for fine filtration to ensure compliant effluent quality. UV disinfection to eliminate residual pathogens.

3. Equipment Selection and Implementation

The project selected Zhongqiao Enlightenment's PP New Material Integrated Sewage Treatment Equipment as the core treatment unit, complemented by a UASB anaerobic reactor and a DAF machine. All equipment was factory-prefabricated and fully tested, allowing on-site installation to be completed in just 15 days. Following commissioning, engineers provided on-site training and granted access to the Hundun Cloud IoT platform for ongoing remote monitoring.

4. Project Outcomes and Benefits

After three months of stable verified operation: Effluent Quality: COD <= 150 mg/L, ammonia-nitrogen <= 20 mg/L, SS <= 30 mg/L, meeting livestock and poultry farming discharge standards. Biogas Recovery: Approximately 200 m3 of biogas recovered daily, saving approximately RMB 150,000 in fuel costs annually. Sludge Reduction: Combined treatment reduces residual sludge generation by approximately 40%. Unattended Operation: PLC automatic control enables round-the-clock operation, requiring only one staff member for periodic routine inspection.

5. Client Feedback

The farm's operations manager noted that the solution not only resolved the long-standing environmental compliance challenge but also enabled resource recovery through biogas utilization, achieving a genuine win-win for both environmental and economic outcomes.
