A factory acceptance test (FAT) is the last systematic check before integrated wastewater treatment equipment leaves the factory. 1. Confirm the approved design basis. Start with the contract, process flow diagram, general arrangement drawing, equipment list, electrical schematic, and agreed influent and effluent targets. Verify treatment capacity, process selection, tank dimensions, access points, inlet and outlet elevations, power supply, and interface responsibilities. Every FAT item should trace back to an approved document or a clearly defined project requirement.

2. Inspect the structure and corrosion protection. Check the overall dimensions, internal partitions, weld quality, access covers, lifting lugs, supports, and maintenance space. The coating system should be inspected for even coverage, missed areas, scratches, contamination, and damage around welded attachments. For carbon-steel integrated units, coating repair before shipment is far easier than field repair after installation.

3. Check piping and mechanical components. Confirm the model, quantity, installation direction, and accessibility of pumps, blowers, mixers, valves, diffusers, level devices, and sludge-handling components. Trace every air, water, sludge, drain, overflow, and sampling line against the drawings. Pipe supports should be secure, valves should operate smoothly, and labels should remain readable after final assembly.

4. Test the electrical and control system. Inspect the control cabinet, terminal identification, cable routing, grounding, overload protection, emergency stop, and enclosure condition. Energize the system under safe test conditions and verify manual and automatic modes, duty-and-standby switching, timer functions, interlocks, level-control logic, alarm signals, and the rotation direction of motors. If remote monitoring is included, confirm communications and the agreed data points.

5. Perform leakage and functional tests. Depending on the project scope and factory conditions, conduct tank watertightness checks, piping pressure or leakage checks, valve operation tests, and short dry or water-based test runs. Record the test medium, duration, acceptance criteria, and results. Any abnormal vibration, noise, leakage, overheating, or unstable current should be investigated before approval.

6. Separate factory verification from biological commissioning. A FAT can prove construction quality and the operation of mechanical, electrical, and control systems, but full biological treatment performance normally requires site installation, inoculation, stable influent, and a commissioning period. The FAT record should therefore state clearly which process parameters were simulated and which performance targets will be confirmed during site commissioning.

7. Verify documents, accessories, and spare parts. Match the packing list to the equipment list and confirm that loose items, instruments, fasteners, gaskets, special tools, commissioning materials, and agreed spare parts are included. The delivery package should contain approved drawings, operating instructions, certificates, inspection records, and recommended maintenance information in the required language.

8. Close out defects and prepare for transport. List every finding with a responsible person and completion date. Take clear photographs after corrections, protect openings and instruments, secure moving parts, mark lifting points, and check the transport dimensions and center of gravity. Client or third-party witnesses should sign the final FAT record only after agreed punch-list items are closed or formally accepted.
